The pilot spring launches your drag chute clear of turbulent air behind the car so the main canopy inflates cleanly — a weak or fatigued spring is the #1 cause of slow-opening or failed chutes. This is the pilot spring assembly only (not a full chute package); inspect at every repack and replace at first sign of reduced tension or corrosion.
